Welcome to Byers Green in County Durham, a village that was first recorded in 1345 as Bires, the equivalent of the modern word byres and so Byers Green means ‘the green by the cowsheds’. The Old Hall, Grade 2 Listed, stands on the North edge of the village above the River Wear, with uninterrupted views towards Durham & Weardale from the three acre walled garden. The North garden wall, facing Brancepeth Castle, is subject to a separate Grade 2 Listing.
We look forward to sharing this tranquil place with you.
