We do not have a local shop, but Willington is 5 minutes drive, with a Cooperative Store that is open every day till10pm. This village also has a chemist, an old fashioned good quality butchers Walton’s, even open on a Sunday; a bakery, a greengrocer ,a newsagents and a florists. Leave Byers Green via Todhills ,turn right to go over the river, then at the top of the bank turn left for the shops.
Bishop Auckland less than 15 minutes drive has a excellent range of supermarkets with Sainsbury’s, Tesco and M&S Food, Lidl and Aldi on the edge of town off the bypass towards Barnard Castle, while Morrisons and Asda are in town near the Railway Station.

The building, recently renovated, also has a large music room where local quality bands do gigs on the last Saturday of every month.
